Purpose
Under the general guidance of the Representative, the Partnerships Specialist and Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Office is responsible for:
- Overall coordination, planning, development, management and implementation of the Country Office Corporate Engagement Strategy to mobilise the corporate sector for child’s rights as well as to leverage resources for children and raise resources for the Country programme, in close
collaboration with relevant programme staff. - Managing the Ho Chi Minh City Office and supervising associated staff, ensuring effective and efficient use of the resources available, as well as achievement of objectives planned for the zone office
Qualification
Advanced university degree and relevant equivalent background in Business Administration, Marketing, management, Communications, Social Sciences, Public Administration, International Relations, Public Health, Education, or other related fields.*
Eight years of professional work experience in planning and administration of partnerships/corporate engagement and/or social development programmes, and management of human, financial and material resources.
Fluency in English and another UN language. Knowledge of the local language of the duty station would be an asset.
*A first level university degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Key Expected Results:
- Provides leadership and direction in developing UNICEF Viet Nam Corporate Engagement Partnerships strategy and implementation frameworks, focusing on (1) promoting corporate social responsibility (CSR) in relevant areas of child development and protection and (2) developing long terms partnership with private sector partners (including private individuals and corporations in and outside Viet Nan) in order to mobilise resources for children, including for the country programme.
- Provide guidance and direction for planning, implementation, research and analysis of CSR and fundraising and building partnerships with private partners.
a) guide the development of fundraising and licensing channels in Viet Nam, looking for opportunities to mobilise resource for the CP, specifically with a focus on developing the use of digital platforms such as websites, emails and SMS
b) develop effective high value corporate alliances, including umbrella business bodies and networks,focusing on promoting CSR in the areas of child development and protection, in coordination with relevant programme staff in the Hanoi office. Lead the development of relevant communication and programmatic materials to support the private sector in effectively implementing their CSR agenda in the area of child development and protection.
- Takes a leading role in identifying, approaching and negotiating partner relationships with corporations, foundations, personalities, civil society organisations and wealthy individuals who may potentially become major donors (directly or through their network) to UNICEF in Viet Nam and/or major advocate for children’s rights in Viet Nam, focusing essentially, but not exclusively, in Ho Chi Minh City. Designs/develops concepts for partners’ engagement activities in conjunctions with programme, communications officers and UN agencies.
- Establishes a positive image of UNICEF and goodwill in HCMC. Establishes and maintains the highest level of contact with the local government and other national and local decision-makers and influential civilians in HCMC, to advocate and promote the well-being of women and children as a priority in the development effort of the city. Influences local media and legislation favouring the survival, development and protection of women and children in HCMC.
- Manage the Ho Chi Minh City Office and supervise associated staff, ensuring effective and efficient use of the resources available, as well as achievement of objectives planned for the zone office.
- Development and implement annual workplan and budget to implement the Corporate Engagement Partnerships strategy, as well as an annual workplan for sub-Office in HCMC. Identifies training requirements to meet staff development needs to meet objectives of the Corporate Engagement Partnerships strategy.
